Plot Summary/Synopsis

Loosely based on the popular 1950s television series, Zorro, this telenovela is packed with action, adventure, and romance. Don Diego de la Vega is an ordinary man with an extraordinary secret. He is the courageous man behind the mask of Zorro. As the mestizo son of a white father and a beautiful Native American warrior woman, Diego faced much adversity during his youth. The tragedy that he was exposed to as a child paved the way for his battle against imperialism. While in Barcelona, Diego mastered the art of sword-fighting, which would later come to define his masked alter-ego. As he combats unjust oppression as Zorro, Diego also finds love. Unfortunately, the stunning Esmeralda Sánchez de Moncada is the daughter of the tyrannical governor of California, Fernando Sánchez de Moncada. While Diego fights to defend the weak, he must also fight for a love that he believes in.
