Plot Summary/Synopsis
Set in the late 1800s, Terra Nostra is a telenovela about love and culture. Terra Nostra pinpoints an important time in history when Brazilian slaves were freed and new labor was needed. When many Italians traveled to Brazil looking for opportunity, the Brazilian and Italian cultures found themselves face to face. Terra Nostra focuses on the love between two Italian immigrants to meet each other on their way to Brazil.
The beautiful Giuliana Esplendore and the handsome Matteo Batistela are young, idealistic, and in love. They vow to spend their lives together, but fate has other plans for them and they become separated. Giuliana and Matteo each encounter interesting characters and face the hardship in a new land. When they are finally reunited, their lives have been complicated by their journeys and time apart. A story of passion, Terra Nostra also raises moral issues and provides insight into Brazilian and Italian histories.
