Plot Summary/Synopsis
A story of family, love, and deceit, La Mentira tells the story of Demitrio Azunsolo. When the handsome Demitrio goes searching for his half-brother, Ricardo Plata, in a remote Mexican village, he is crushed to learn that Ricardo is dead. After questioning the villagers, Demitrio learns that Ricardo committed suicide after being scorned by a lover. After much investigating, Demitrio comes to the conclusion that this heartless ex-lover of Ricardo’s lives in the villa of the wealthy businessman Teodoro Fernandez-Negrete. Steadfast in his plan to avenge his brother’s death, Demitrio travels to Mexico City and meets Virginia and Veronica Fernandez-Negrete, Teodoro’s beautiful nieces. Virginia is demure and angelic while Veronica is vivacious and exuberant, and Demitrio’s first impressions lead him to blame Veronica for his brother’s death. Unfortunately, his allegations are unfounded and both Demitrio and Veronica find out that Virginia’s innocence is all a façade to mask her diabolical schemes. As Demitrio and Veronica battle to escape the evil clutches of Virginia, they find themselves enraptured in a passionate romance.
