Plot Summary/Synopsis
Set in historical 19th century Japan, this telenovela tells the story of a young woman named Oyuki. Forced into a world of oppression by her own brother, Oguino, Oyuki lives the life of a Geisha. Although Oyuki is trained to be a companion for countless men, there is only one man who truly has her heart. Oyuki is madly in love with Irving, a handsome and compassionate painter from England. Oyuki travels with Irving to England where the two get married and have a beautiful daughter named Yuriko. It seems that the lovers have found bliss together, but their happiness is suddenly destroyed when Oguino unintentionally kills Irving. Rather than own up to his accidental crime, the cowardly Oguino places the blame on his sister and the grieving Oyuki is sent to jail. Oyuki sits in jail for twenty years until her villainous brother finally reveals clears Oyuki’s name right before he dies. In a riveting series of events based on the popular screenplay by Yolanda Vargas Dulché, Oyuki sets out to reclaim her long-lost daughter and see if she can ever love again.
