Plot Summary/Synopsis
The plot of Amigas y Rivales revolves around the exciting lives of four young women from different walks of life. Laura is a hardworking college student who comes from a middle-class background. The modest Nayeli is Jimena’s maid, but she dreams of one day becoming a famous actress. While Laura and Nayeli work to make something of their lives, Jimena and Ofelia live a life of luxury and decadence. But when Ofelia contracts HIV, she realizes that not all the money in the world can solve her problems. Laura finds herself in a sticky romantic situation when she falls in love with Roberto, Jimena’s brother and has an affair with her boss—who just happens to be Roberto and Jimena’s father. Meanwhile, Nayeli travels to America to on a quest for fortune and fame that leads to some dangerous situations. Laura, Jimena, Ofelia, and Nayeli come from different worlds, but their lives are forever entangled.
